Many people have fond memories of the Tall Ships arriving in Cork Harbour in 1991. Most Corkonians and harbourside residents would have found it hard to believe that Cork Harbour would not see that marvellous sight again for at least 20 years. Waterford has hosted the event twice since 1991, and Dublin hosted it in 2012.
With the tremendously successful festival in Waterford this summer fresh in the mind, people in Cork are again beginning to ask what it will take to get this celebration of the Age of Sail back to one of the worlds great maritime locations.
A Facebook campaign has recently been started to help promote the idea of bringing the Tall Ships back to Cork Harbour.
